You Are Always on His Mind
I think, if we were honest, we would all have to admit that there is a lot about our world and our Lord that we do not understand. In our finite minds, we wonder about the "whys" of some of God's creations. We cannot understand why some children are born with birth defects or handicaps while others are gifted with extreme intelligence or special talents. We wonder why some die in infancy and others live well into old age.
We struggle with the wisdom of God.
We are going to look at some amazing scriptures today. God has perfect knowledge of man. Every person ever born was, and, for those to yet come, will be meticulously created by God. Let us begin by looking at Psalm 139:13-16 (NLT), "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous--how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed." The word 'woven' in verse 15 is 'wrought' in the King James Version. Wrought means, embroidered with various colors. (white bones, blue veins and red arteries).
As I have shared in previous blogs, we see in 2 Timothy 1:9, "who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose (a deliberate plan, an advance plan, and a design) and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began" There are no accidental babies. Each one is precious in His sight.
Jeremiah 29:11 lets us know how God thinks about His children. It reads, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Kingdom Dynamics in the NSFLB states, "He sees us as righteous in Christ and He thinks about us with nothing but unconditional, unlimited love." His thoughts toward us are thoughts of peace and not of evil.
Isaiah 55:9 (NLT), "For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." I believe there will be things in our lives that we will not understand or comprehend from a human viewpoint. We need to understand that God sees everything from an eternal perspective. That, is when we have to be like Job, and trust Him.
I feel it is imperative for me to make an important point here. The Lord knows that we do not always understand the "whys" of the way that something is. It is okay for us to desire to understand. Note however, that even though we may ask "why," God does not always give us an answer. Then, we must accept His wisdom, in faith. In fact, this is what the Scripture says regarding this issue. Isaiah 14:27 states, "For the LORD of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?" Then, we read in Isaiah 29:16 (Aramaic Bible in Plain English), "You are esteemed as the clay of a potter. Does the work say to its maker: "You have not made me?" And does the crafted thing say to its craftsman, "You have not wisely formed me?"
It is not our place to criticize or correct the Lord.
Then we read in Deuteronomy 29:29a, "The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever"
My brother and I suffer from many health issues. Our sister, who went to be with Jesus this past year, courageously fought a long and difficult battle also. I believe strongly in the spiritual gifts of healing, which are proclaimed in the Word of God. The Lord has performed some miraculous healings through the laying on of my hands, however, to date, I have not been touched in the same way. I do not understand why that is so, however, I continue to trust my powerful God.
As I recently was praying, in the wee hours of the morning, I was examining my relationship with my Abba Father and my physical health. This is the conclusion I came to at the end of my prayer time: I am His. Every cell, every nerve, every part of me is His. I do not understand why things are as they are, but I trust my Father. I do not see the whole picture, however, He does. I am only like a speck of sand in the divine scheme of things, but I am His speck and He loves and watches over me every bit as much as any and every other speck.
I am still waiting for some of the things He has promised me. I am praying that He will help me be ready, that He would help me to not fret or be anxious but to fully rest in Him, and that He will help me to relinquish all control to Him. Philippians 4:6 and 7 reads, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." The word 'supplication' in verse 6 according to the NSFLB, is "more that petitioning, but suggests an intensity of earnestness in extended prayer - not to gain merit by many words, but to fully transfer the burden of one's soul into God's hands."
John 15:5, "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." I know I can do nothing apart from Him, however, I also know Matthew 19:26(NLT), which states, "Jesus looked at them intently and said, "Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible."
God does not create us and then abandon or leave us to ourselves.
I recommend you read the next scriptures aloud, so you can also 'listen' to them. Psalm 139:1-4 (NASB20), "LORD, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I get up; You understand my thought from far away. 3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, LORD, You know it all." God has intimate knowledge of us. He is not some aloof entity far removed from us. He knows, understands, and totally comprehends everything about us. Amazing!
Now read Psalm 139: verses 17 and 18a, "How precious also are Your thoughts for me, God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the sand." Yes, our Creator thinks about us much more than we can imagine.
Psalm 40:5 also confirms that His thoughts toward us are more than can be numbered.
God is very interested, concerned, and invested in each one of us! Often times we find ourselves "feeling" like we are not particularly valuable. We tend to compare and judge ourselves according to who we think others are and what we perceive they are accomplishing. But, today, I tell you this, "You are always on His mind!"
Psalm 40:17a, "But I am poor and needy; Yet the LORD thinks upon me." It does not matter if, by world standards, you are considered successful or not. It does not matter if you are a "world shaker or mover," or the one who does an awesome job of sweeping the floor. God has a purpose and plan for all of us. We never know whether a ripple we cause would change the course of nations.
I heard this testimony at a conference of the denomination in which I pastored. A man and his wife went to India as missionaries. When their appointed time concluded, they returned to the United States, believing they were failures. Many, many years later a leader in the denomination, was at an airport, traveling to a national conference. He met a couple from India and struck up a conversation. He was astounded to hear that they were also going to the conference. He then discovered that this man and his wife had become Christians because of that missionary couple who had been in India all those years prior! In fact, those "failures" were responsible for the establishment of 35 churches in India and never knew it. Each follower of Christ fulfills his or her part in the design or plan of God for their life, no matter how insignificant that part may seem.
Think about it! 1 Corinthians 1:27 and 28 (NLT) reads, "Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important."
I think of Nick Vujici, an Australian-American who was born without arms or legs, who became a motivational speaker and evangelist. According to africanparadiseworld.com, he "has traveled to over 50 countries touching the hearts of about 400 million people."
God knows you intimately.
He loves you and His thoughts of you are more numerous than can be counted.
He has a purpose and a plan for your life.
You can do all things through Christ Who strengthens you.
God's thoughts are higher than ours and we can absolutely trust Him and His wisdom, even in spite of our lack of understanding of the "whys" of life!
