What a Gift! His Unchanging Word!
I am so glad you are reading the post today! We have been given such a wonderful gift in the revealed Word of God! I pray that the Holy Spirit will open your spirit and understanding to the truth we will discover about His Word, which He has freely given to us! Eric
We live in a continuously changing and challenging world. We have various personal changes we face on a daily basis such as aging, changing jobs, becoming empty nesters, our children moving far away, health issues, becoming grandparents and dealing with personal loss. We also sometimes face changes in local school standards, Universities, banks, insurance companies, taxes, morality issues, world leaders, financial issues and family dynamics, to mention a few.
Even while facing what seems like constant turmoil, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we posses a remarkable Truth! There is one thing which is and always will be constant - the Eternal Word of God!
Hebrews 13:8 (Amplified Bible) reads, “Jesus Christ is (eternally changeless, always) the same yesterday and today and forever.” The Greek word, autos, for ‘same’ also means immutable which is defined as - not capable of or susceptible to change.
Why is it important for us to know that Jesus is not capable of change? We find the answer to this question in John 1:1-3 (NIV), “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” In examining the Strong’s Lexicon, the Greek meaning of ‘logos’ translated ‘word’ means speech and divine utterance. The corresponding Hebrew entry for ‘word’ (dabar) also means utterance or speech and often in the Psalms refers to God’s promises or decrees. Additionally, “The term ‘logos’ is a multifaceted Greek word that encompasses a range of meanings including ‘word,’ ‘speech,’ ‘reason,’ ‘doctrine,’ and account.’ In the New Testament, ‘logos’ is used to denote the spoken or written word, the message of the Gospel and, most profoundly, as a title for Jesus Christ, emphasizing His role as the divine Word of God incarnate. Theologically, ‘logos’ signifies the communication of God’s will and truth to humanity. John’s Gospel uses this term to articulate the preexistence and divinity of Christ presenting Jesus as the ultimate revelation of God.”
We see, stated very plainly in John 1:14, referring to Jesus, (ESV), “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” ‘Glory’ doxa, means the absolutely perfect inward or personal excellence of Christ!
We also see the Supremacy of God’s Son, Jesus, in Hebrews 1:1-3 (NIV), “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” ‘Radiance’ in verse 3 means reflected brightness. (He perfectly reflects the majesty of God.)
What an amazing truth and blessing God has granted to us! He gifted us with His written truth, so we can hold it in or hands, read it, meditate on and study it so that it can become a part of us . Through it, we have what we need to help enable us to live a life or righteousness by being obedient to that Word, (“I will hide Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.” Psalm 119:11). Then, even more astounding is the fact that the Word, His Son, Jesus Christ left glory, came willingly to die for our sins so that we could also become the sons and daughters of God! He sustains all things by His powerful word! Thank you Father for Your indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15).
God’s Word (speech, word, utterance, God’s written law and Jesus) is eternal! The Word of God is in continuous existence (always), and it stands firm (is established) in the heavens. (Psalm 119:89-91). Kingdom Dynamics in the NSFLB adds this insight: “This text asserts the all encompassing, absolutely authoritative Word of God as unchangingly secured in heaven, noting firstly: the timelessness of God’s rule by His Word. Though times and seasons change, though social customs, human opinions and philosophical viewpoints vary, they have no effect on the constancy or authority of God’s Word. Secondly, God is faithful in applying the power, promise, and blessing of His Word, along with its requirements of justice and judgment. Just as He spoke and the Earth was created and is sustained, so He has spoken regarding His laws for living. The relativism of human thought does not effect His authority or standards. All of creation serves and obeys God through His Word.”
Hallelujah! His Word is living and powerful (Hebrews 4:12) and because of that, it is always relevant for your life and life’s circumstances!
The Word of God is eternally established and never changes. Though the ways of the world may change because of man’s error, God’s Word does not. “As we hear and yield to the authority of God’s Word, we verify that we are no longer dominated by the world’s spirit of error.” (Strong’s states that the ‘spirit of error’ is the child of satan.) (1 John 4:6 ESV).
God’s Word will not return empty (void) without effect or will always accomplish (bring to pass) what it was spoken to do.” (Isaiah 55:11 NIV). “God’s Word, when received, will never be barren. The power in His Word will always fulfill the promise in His Word. God’s Word cannot be barren or fruitless; His own life-power is within it.” (Kingdom Dynamics NSFLB). This word of truth is so monumental and dynamic that we, with our finite minds, have trouble grasping it. Father, help us grasp this truth in our mind and spirit!
God’s Word is God’s will.
“Your Word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105 NIV). We are all inexperienced in too much of life to be without a guide. God’s Word is that guide. The whole of Psalm 119 unfolds manifold features of God’s Word, showing how dynamically it will assist us in life’s most practical circumstances. Psalm 119:130 (NLT) reads, “The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand.”
All Scripture is inspired by God. (2 Timothy 3:16 and 17 NLT). “The Bible does not merely contain the Word of God, it is the Word of God! It is the Word of the Holy Spirit. (Theoneutos) literally, ‘inspiration of God’ means God breathed.” (Kingdom Dynamics NSFLB).
The Word of God is Truth! (John 17:17) Jesus said, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” (free from the dominion of sin) (John 8:31 and 32 NIV).
When we delight and meditate in the law (Word) of the Lord day and night, we will prosper in all we do. (Psalm 1:2,3). Studying the Word continually, meditating (musing, thinking about it) day and night and obeying it all, will cause you to prosper and succeed in all you do. (Joshua 1:8 NIV). He has given His people the blueprint for prospering and being successful.
God’s Word, as revealed by the Holy Spirit, directs us into God’s will and therefore - a successful life. We must also keep in mind, God is preparing us for eternity - our ‘life’ doesn’t end with our physical death! His blessing will continue on as we enter into the very presence of God! Unimaginable!
It is through Christ, the living Word of God that we obtain an intimate loving relationship with God! (Are you overwhelmed with His goodness yet?)? Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Jesus. He sends the Holy Spirit, the Helper, one besides Jesus, or the one in addition to Jesus but one with Jesus and the Father. The Holy Spirit will do in Jesus’ absence what He would do if He were still present physically with us. What an awesome God we serve!
Lastly, I will be sharing Psalm 19:7-11 (NKJV). To start though, I want to include this excellent mini-teaching from Kingdom Dynamics in the NSFLB,,,, titled, “The Complete Trustworthiness of the Bible - The Word of God.” “The phrase ‘law of the Lord is perfect’ (verse 7) is direct reference to the absolute, complete, and entire trustworthiness of the Holy Scriptures, which constitute the Bible. The Word of God is ‘perfect’ in its accuracy and ‘sure’ in its dependability. Two terms are generally used to describe these features of God’s Word. First “inerrant” (perfect) means that in the original copies of each manuscript written by each Bible book’s respective author, there was nothing mistaken or tinged with error. (Further, the excellence of the Holy Spirit’s protection of the Scripture over the centuries has ensured that the copies delivered into our hands from generations past are essentially the same. Even literary critics who claim no faith in the truth of the Bible attest to it being the most completely reliable of any book transmitted from antiquity, in terms of it actually remaining unchanged and dependably accurate.) Secondly, ‘infallible’ refers to the fact that the Bible is unfailing as an absolutely trustworthy guide for our faith (belief in God), and practice (life and behavior). This is so, because God is true. (John 3:33; 17:3) and because His Word reveals His truth (John 17:17); and because God cannot lie. (Numbers 23:19).”
Psalm 19:7-11 (NKJV), “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.”
What a tremendous gift He has given us!
His Word has everlasting qualities and is unchanging!
The spiritual wealth we gain from the Word of God far surpasses material wealth!
Read it! Study it! Meditate on it! Let it become a part of you!
It is the Unchanging Word of God!
However, you, will never be the same!
Thank You Lord, for Your life giving, sustaining and Eternal Word of God!
